Wushu / Chinese Kung Fu

Wushu is a wonderful martial art with roots going back thousands of years in China, and has been accepted as an ancient Asian art for the self discipline of mind and body. Wushu is the Mandarin Chinese word for "martial art," and is the term used in China. Westerners are familiar with the term Kung Fu, which translates roughly into "skill," and Wushu was displayed in movies as "Shaolin temple”, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Fearless, and The mummy etc by Jet Li, and Jackie Chan.

Everyone can do Wushu-Kung Fu! Our classes design for all of people backgrounds. Regardless of your size, fitness, or experience, you will be able to learn Chinese martial arts Wushu-Kung Fu at HongWu Kung Fu. Because Wushu-Kung Fu relies on technique rather than brute strength, both women and men can excel, and most classes are typically 50% male and 50% female.

Wushu means "Chinese martial arts". Wushu is also called Goushu or Kung Fu and westerners are more familiar with the tram Kung Fu. Wushu is wonderful martial arts with dating back thousands of years in China, and has been recognized as an ancient Chinese art for self discipline of body and mind. Wushu in Chinese wu 武? It has two parts. The first part 止?which means stop and second part 戈? Mean weapon. When put together the term symbolizes the idea of using military power to subdue violent disorder. By promoting peace, Chinese martial arts serve and protect while avoiding conflict.

Wushu involves training and competing. Wushu has many elements of acrobatics and gymnastics. Wushu is performed the quality and complexity of each movement is emphasized. The important elements include flexibility, speed, coordination, presentation and precision.
